Sandra J Cebula McGowan

Cumberland Foreside - Sandra J. (Cebula) McGowan, 71, of Cumberland Foreside, Maine and formerly of Springfield, MA died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine. Sandra, a daughter of the late Frederick and Martha Ann (Bouvier) Cebula was born in Springfield on August 21, 1942. Raised in Springfield she graduated from Classical High School.

Sandra worked as a librarian for the past 37 years with the City of Springfield and most recently the Town of Cumberland. She resided in Springfield most of her life and in Cumberland Foreside for the past 19 years.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by three sons, Timothy, Patrick and Sean McGowan and a sister, Sally Atkins. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Retired Springfield Firefighter Thomas M. McGowan, Sr.; two sons, Michael T. McGowan and his wife Cindy of East Longmeadow, MA and Thomas M. McGowan, Jr. and his wife Nadine of Somers, CT; a sister, Nancy G. Fyhr of Westfield; five grandsons, Shawn, Kevin, Matthew, Jeremy, and Brian; a great granddaughter, Sarai Rachel McGowan.

Visiting hours for Sandra will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Family and friends are asked to meet on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a service at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
