Stanley C. Hall

FREEPORT, ME. Stanley Hall passed away on August 24, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving children after a brief illness. He was born in Caribou, ME, on May 25, 1948, to Elwood Miller Hall and Alicia Hope Severy Hall.

Stan grew up in East Hartford, CT, and graduated from George J. Penney High School in 1967. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1968 following his lifelong best friend, Gary O’Keefe. He served one tour of duty in the Vietnam War, 12 months plus 20 days (MOS 0331, Honorable Discharge 1969).

He married Sharon Parsons in E. Hartford in 1972 (divorced in 1992). They had two children, a daughter, Stephanie, and a son, Damian. They moved to Salem, CT, in 1976, and he worked at Electric Boat Shipyard as a welder, building submarines. He retired after 30 years of hard work and playing cards with Frank Ward and Johnny Bryant. He lived in Salem for 40-plus years and had some great neighbors, Anne & Dave, Donna & Dave, John & Lori, and Carl & Bev.

Stan earned his Associate’s Degree in accounting at age 50 from Three Rivers Community College. He enjoyed hunting with his father Elwood, brother Blaine, and dear friend Billy Harris. He spent many summer weeks fishing with Billy at his camp on Foss Pond in Maine with Billy, Blaine, and Louis. They fished on many remote ponds. Stan travelled extensively throughout his life to Vietnam, Bangkok, Scotland, Vancouver, New Brunswick, California, Seattle, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and Florida.

Stan moved back to Maine in 2015 into a home he built next door to his son in Freeport. He spent summer days on the islands of Casco Bay swimming and fishing for mackerel and stripers with Damian, his wife Amy, and grandsons Liam and Jackson. He spent vacations and holidays on Nantucket with his daughter Stephanie, her husband Kevin, and granddaughter Morgan. The biggest joy in Stan’s life was being close to his children and grandchildren, and he will be missed deeply as an amazing dad, grandfather, brother, friend to all, and of course a great storyteller.

He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Hall, her husband Kevin Michael Ryder, and granddaughter Morgan Severy Ryder of Nantucket, MA; His son Damian Richard Hall, his wife Amy Joseph Hall, and grandsons Liam Elwood Hall and Jackson Joseph Hall of Freeport, ME. His brother Blaine Hall and his wife Carol Hall of Columbia, CT, and his sister Judith Donovan and partner Fred Stackpole of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by his dear lifelong best friend Gary O’Keefe and his wife Mary O’Keefe of Spring Hill Grove, FL.

There will be no formal services. Stephanie, Damian, and their families will have a private tribute on Lake St. George in Liberty, Maine, a very special place for Stan and his family.
