Thelma E. Estabrook Sommers

Freeport - Thelma Estabrook Sommers, 83, of Porter’s Landing, Freeport died in Portland on Thursday July 29, 2010 with her family at her side. She was born in Calais, Maine on June 22, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Alvin T. Estabrook and Leonora M. Quinn Estabrook.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Sommers, Sr. She is survived by her son Robert E. Sommers, Jr. and his wife Diana of Jefferson Maine; her grandchildren Samantha Sommers and her husband Scott Peach; Megan and Carle Facciolo and her great-granddaughter Isabel Thelma Facciolo. She is survived by her brother Harold Estabrook and sister-in-law Sylvia; her sister Barbara Wilson and her sister-in-law Louise Estabrook. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Noreen, Steve, Patrick, Gary, Sharon, Susan, Carolyn, Tiffany, Kenny, Kathy, as well as a large extended family and many friends.

She retired from LL Bean in 1990 after over 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick, the Freeport Historical Society, past president of the Philathea Class of the Freeport Baptist Church, and a former member of the Pythian Sisters.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday August 1, 2010 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096. Funeral service will be on Monday August 2 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 284 Church Road, Brunswick, Me with Rev. Dr. Philip Gage officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Hill Road, Freeport.
