Thomas Tom Joyce

THE VILLAGES FL — Thomas Joseph Joyce Jr., 75 died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 in Florida. Mr. Joyce was born in Portland, Maine, was a long-time resident of Cumberland and moved to Florida in 2000. Tom was a graduate of Chevrus High School and Gorham State Teacher's College. He was principal of Greely Junior High School in Cumberland for over 30 years. Tom was an avid sports fan and was particularly devoted to Notre Dame football. He attended Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth and most recently was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in The Villages, Florida.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters Patricia Bruce and her husband John, Boston, Mass., Mary Satake and her husband Eiki, Waltham, Mass., Kathleen Burns and her husband Robert, Brunswick, Maine, and Annmarie Joyce, Portland, Maine; stepdaughters Helen Martin, Howell, Mich. and Ruth Haefner, Lavonia, Mich.; stepsons Gerald Hovis, Jr., Silver Springs, Md., and Richard Hovis, Antigo, Wis.; sister Rosemary Gordon, Kennebunk, Maine; granddaughter Erika Joyce, Portland, ME; grandsons Wilder Burns and Milo Burns, Brunswick, ME; and seven step-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife Susan Story Joyce.

A time of gathering and visitation will be held from 11am - 1pm on Tuesday, Nov. 29th, at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine.
