May 13th, 1968 – May 9th, 2025
Timothy W. Estabrook, son, father, uncle, husband and brother, died unexpectedly the morning of May 9th, 2025 in Yarmouth, Maine just shy of his 57th birthday.
Tim spent his first three years living on a sailboat with his family, sailing to Mexico, through the Panama Canal and the Caribbean, establishing a love for the ocean and boats that directed his life and career. His family moved frequently, living in Virginia, Florida, Texas, California and France, before returning to California, where Tim graduated from high school.
Tim attended San Diego State University and graduated from California State University Long Beach in 1992 after which he headed to Paris, France where he met his future wife, Lisa. Together they relocated to Maine in 1994 where he began his career working as an apprentice at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Maine. From passionate beginnings of hands-on woodwork and joinery—and later as a graduate of Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology—he grew to become a respected naval architect and experienced designer of fine joinery. In his 30 year career he had the opportunity to work with some of the preeminent yacht designers and builders in the country, and offered a complete understanding of what it takes to get a project from the drawing board into the water.
While he was fortunate to have worked on some of the finest superyachts of the last several decades (Liberty, Antonisa, Sheherazade, Sycara IV, and Cake Walk), in Tim’s opinion, his greatest achievement was his love, presence, and devotion to his wife and three children. He lived his life as an exemplar of the Golden Rule, and his kindness, compassion, and patience were a gift to all who knew him.
Tim was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Estabrook and is survived by his father Peter Estabrook of Concord, California; his wife, Lisa Estabrook and his three children, Emilie, Kate and Thomas of Yarmouth, Maine and his sister and brother-in-law, Anne Estabrook and Dennis Fink, of Lafayette, California and nieces, Maddie and Allie. He will be missed by his extended family and friends from around the world.
A private family memorial is scheduled for mid August at his home in Yarmouth, Maine. The family would like to thank the Landing School of Arundel Maine for accepting and stewarding his life’s work to support and inspire the next generation of boat builders and designers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Landing School through their website. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness during this tender time.
