1948 - 2026
Pownal, ME- Timothy "Tim" Wayne Grindle, 77, of Pownal, died on March 13, 2026 in Scarborough surrounded by family after a long and hard-fought illness.
Tim was born on December 1, 1948, a son of Marilyn (Buck) Grindle Miller and Stanley Grindle. He attended Brunswick schools and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in the late 1960s.
After completing his service, he met and married Kathryn "Kathy" Goff, and they had two sons, Jacob and Gabriel. Tim and Kathy settled on the Grindle family property in Pownal to raise their family.
A talented carpenter, Tim dedicated his life to his family and his land, always showing up for anyone and everyone when he was needed, and constantly tinkering on his property or creating paths in the woods with his tractor.
Tim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and partner in crime to those he loved most. He loved music and woodworking, fiddling around on guitars and carving beautiful sculptures out of wood, and could always be found huddled around his weekly Thursday night poker game with his lifelong friends.
He was unflinching in his support for his loved ones, and was a constant caretaker of those around him, whether it was staying home to be a full-time parent to his sons, dedicating years to caring for his wife Kathy through her battle with cancer, or helping out siblings and friends in their times of need. The second he knew someone needed something, he would provide help with no questions asked or judgement passed.
Once becoming a grandfather, one of his favorite pastimes was taking his grandsons for tractor rides through the woods.
Later in life, many years after losing his beloved Kathy, Tim formed a deep and loving bond with Deb Garrison, and they lived together and cared for one another until his last breath. Tim happily took on the role of stepfather to Deb's daughter, Courtney, and grandchildren, Matthew and Mackenzie.
He will forever be remembered as an extremely dedicated family man, and the best dad and grampy to ever exist, and we are all better for knowing him and will miss him deeply.
Tim is survived by his lady, Deb Garrison; two sons, Jake and wife, Jess, and Gabe and wife, Christine; two grandsons, Judah and Milo; stepdaughter, Courtney Garrison and Peter; step grandchildren, Matthew and Mackenzie Burrows; two brothers, Allen and wife, Wendy, and Blaine; two sisters, Karen Grindle and Jackie Manton; and a great many nieces, nephews, cherished Goff in-laws, and lifelong friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Kathy; two brothers, Joel and Brian; and too many friends and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
