Adele Matte

Born Nov. 10, 1930, she lived in Yonkers until moving to Hastings in 1960. A graduate of Roosevelt High School and the Cochran School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers for many years.

In 1953 she married George Matte at Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years; three daughters, Marianne, of Standish, Maine, Judith (Alan) Sanseverino, of Hastings, and Elizabeth (Peter) DiRenzo, of Sleepy Hollow; a son, James (Juliet Pennington), of North Attleboro, Mass.; daughter-in-law Maureen, of Rochester; and 11 grandchildren. She was predeceased by three of her children: Robert, George Jr., and an infant son, John. Visitation will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Monday June 18th. from 2- 4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Matthews Church in Hastings on Tuesday June 19th. at 10 am with interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
