Born in Beleçê, Portugal, to Rosalina and Francisco Ferreira, Adriano was the second youngest of eight children, carrying with him lifelong fond memories of his childhood, local festivals, and the adventures that shaped him. At 17, he made the courageous decision to leave Portugal and build a new life in America, settling in Yonkers, NY. Arriving in 1966 without speaking English, he worked tirelessly—first at St. John’s Hospital and later for General Motors in Tarrytown. Following the plant’s closure, he embraced a new chapter as an entrepreneur, founding his own landscaping company.
While Adriano was a dedicated provider, nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He was a proud founding member of the Portuguese American Community Center in Yonkers and a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He was especially proud to send his daughters to college, ensuring they were the first in his family to achieve that milestone. In recent years, he especially cherished spending a great deal of time at his second home in Portugal. His life’s greatest pleasures also included spending time with his grandchildren, family gatherings, supporting FC Porto, making wine with his brothers, Sunday car trips, storytelling, and staying deeply connected to his roots.
Adriano's life was a true testament to courage, perseverance, and the enduring strength of family. His humor, generosity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Adelaide; his loving daughters, Susana Mosiello (Brian) and Dina Dunn (Solomon); his cherished grandchildren, Vincent, Peter, Alexander, and Matteo; his dear stepchildren and step-grandchildren; his brother, Jose Ferreira (Amalia); his sister, Maria Perdigoto; and his late siblings, Antonio (Iva), Hilario (Ana), Manuel (Graca), Florinda (Ze), and Amaro (Julieta).
