
Albert R. (Mickey) Popot, retired Yonkers Fire Lieutenant died on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at age 72. Born on April 12, 1943 to James and Marie (Brown) Popot in Yonkers where he was raised and educated and graduated from Gorton High School. Mr. Popot served over thirty-two years with the Yonkers Fire Department; retiring in 2003. On Sept. 11, 1965 he married Mary Zeleznik in Holy Trinity Church, she survives living in Yonkers. He was a Korean Navy Veteran. Al was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a member of the Usher Society and did numerous volunteer jobs at the church functions. He also was a member of the Tarrytown Boat Club; Slovak Club of Yonkers, Knights of Columbus and the Tuesday morning Senior Golf Group. Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by his two daughters: Janine Popot of Mt. Kisco and Rita Ryan-Popot of Boston, he is also survived by his two grandchildren, Luke and Cecelia and his sister Isabelle Engel. He was predeceased by his siblings James, Marie, Alice, Joan and Jane. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, December 19th at 9:30 a.m. Interment Mt.
