Alice M. Papacena

From her family's loving embrace to God's loving arms, Alice Marie Papacena, fondly known as "MeeMa" died on July 1, 2016 at Calvary Hospital. She was 89 years old. Alice was born on April 7, 1927 in Bronx, NY to the late Roseann Beeching and Paul Basil. Alice is survived by her loving husband of almost 72 years, James Edward Papacena, whom she married on September 13, 1944 at St. Mary's Church in the Bronx.

Alice is the beloved mother of Susan Mark (Bill), Judith DeBlasio (John) and Jim Papacena (Marie) MeeMa, to her beloved grandchildren, Tracey(Grant), Billy(Kerri), Jimmie John(Liza), Matt(Rachel), Ashley and Amanda and her cherished great-grandchildren, Taylor, Grayson, Corinne, Everett, Carissa and "Baby Girl Papacena due in August will be remembered with great love and affection. After raising her children, Alice worked as an office manager for Dr. Genovese until her retirement

She was an active member of the Republican Club and a parishioner of Annunciation Church. She enjoyed the many dogs she owned over the years. Alice was a fun loving lady who enjoyed dancing to the big band music, horseback riding, roller-skating and bowling. Her greatest joy was her family and their times spent together. She loved her children's friends and was a second mother to many.There will be a funeral mass at Annunciation Church in Crestwood, NY on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11am followed by inurnment at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at: Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
