
Anthony R. Badia, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday March 27, 2014 at his residence. He was 90 years old. He was born on June 15, 1923 to John and Giovannina Anzalone Badia in the Bronx where he was raised and educated. Mr. Badia was a machinist at Accessory Specialities Inc. in Yonkers from 1973 until his retirement in 2003. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a seamen and was stationed in Europe and Asia. Mr. Badia was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers. On Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, he was known as “Sheet Metal Tony”. His loving wife Agnes (nee Ucci) Badia predeceased him in January 1981. Mr. Badia is survived by one son, John Della Badia and his wife, Rita of Eastchester and two daughters, Giovanna Badia of Seattle, Washington and Donna Lapera and her husband, Ron of Delaware. He is also survived by six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Mario Della Badia and a sister, Gilda DeFede. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church on Saturday March 29th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery.
