
Antonino “Jimmy” Calabro, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday March 2, 2017 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 66 years old. He was born on December 7, 1950 to Concetto Calabro and Cosima Miucci in Italy where he was raised and educated. Mr. Calabro was a hairdresser in Riverdale, N.Y. for forty five years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed gardening. His family said “His grandchildren were his life and he especially enjoyed playing checkers with his grandson, Marco.” On April 6, 1975, he married his loving wife, Silvana Carrea in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Calabro survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paolo Calabro and his wife Maria of Hartsdale, a daughter, Patrizia Lloyd and her husband Benjamin of New York City and his three grandchildren, Marco, Stella and Valentina. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 5-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday March 4th at 9:30am. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
