
Beatrice O’Rourke (nee Kupcok) of Yonkers died on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at age 96.Born on March 21, 1918 to Paul and Eva (Gloner) Kupcok in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Commerce High School.On September 23, 1939 she married James J. O’Rourke in Yonkers, he died in 1983.
Beatrice was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church, a former member of the Mother’s Guild at Sacred Heart. Mrs. O’Rourke is survived by her two children; James J. O’Rourke, Jr. of Athens, New York and Gail O’Rourke of Yonkers. She is also survived by her three grandchildren; Stacey, Kelly and Dawn and her three great-grandchildren; Gabriella, Nicole and Matthew. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Erin; and daughter-in-law Patricia and her brother John Kupcok and her sister Zora Klasic. Beatrice lived a life of caring for others – whether it was in keeping house for her father and siblings when her mother died at a young age; nursing her father 24/7 in his struggle with cancer; or attending to every need for her own family. She took great pride in every aspect of being a homemaker and was noted for her baking, especially taking time to make sure that everyone always had a special cake on their birthday for any other significant event. She truly enjoyed doing the laundry and ironing, sewing and mending clothes, vacuuming and cooking homemade dinners every night. Her family was the focus of her life. She was strongly independent and fierce in her belief and trust in God. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Anthony’s Church on Monday, April 14th at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt.
