

Carol A. (Gannon) Hand, 77, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, in Greenville, RI. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Hand with whom she had celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.
There will be a viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers.
Carol was born August 30, 1935 to loving, generous parents, Joseph and Margaret Gannon, and was a lifelong resident of Yonkers before relocating to Rhode Island in 2009. A loving homemaker for her husband and family, she also worked for many years with various companies in Westchester.
Carol was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where she attended daily Mass, served as a Eucharistic Minister and parish volunteer on many committees and in the Closet Shop. An avid tennis player, she played as often as possible with friends and family as a member of the Amackassin Club in Yonkers and various indoor clubs. She was a loving spouse, mother and grandmother whose pride beamed with every child’s and grandchild’s accomplishment. She loved the ocean, the feel of sand beneath her feet, and summer days spent in Hampton Bays, Long Island, with her parents, siblings and family.
She is survived by four daughters, Coleen Kingsley and her husband, Scott, of North Attleboro, MA, Regina Hand of Warwick, RI, Alison Hand of Warwick, RI, and Tricia Seery of Arlington, MA; a son, J.T. Hand, and his wife, Kathy, of York, PA; and 11 grandchildren, Joey, Tara, Erin, Ryan, Shannon, David, Katie, Thomas, Lauren, Brian and Kevin. And, also survived by her sister Mickey Dawson Bell of Hampton Bays, New York, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; a son, Thomas Jr.; two brothers, Joseph and Jay Gannon; and a sister, Patricia Tully. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday February 24, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday February 25, 2013 at 11am at Sacred Heart Church.
