
Carol Ann Swetz (nee Mangan), age 72, an exemplary human being, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, in-law and friend, died on August 7th, surrounded by her loving family, after an eight month battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme, at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA.
Carol’s indomitable spirit and generous nature endeared her to scores of people in all segments of society.
Carol, daughter of Dorothy Lindelof and Charles Mangan, was born in New Britain, Connecticut on January 24, 1941, and lived in Plainville, Connecticut until her marriage to Thomas J. Swetz on April 22, 1961, when she moved to Yonkers, New York. There she joined St. Bartholomew’s Parish, where she became very involved in her faith, the church, the elementary school, and made many life-long friends. Carol and her husband Thomas moved to Gouldsboro, PA upon their retirement, continuing to live life to the fullest and again, making strong bonds of friendship.
She was a gifted stenographer and was awarded many honors throughout her career, which culminated in her acting as secretary to the principals of Bronxville High School, from 1985 to 2008, when she retired. Her tenure there resulted in numerous friendships and the admiration of students, teachers, and staff.
She will be remembered for the sound of her heels, affinity for animal prints and shoes, delicious cooking, artful decorating, sense of humor, huge heart, colorful personality, warm and welcoming nature, ability to make friends easily and her devotion to her family and faith.
Left to honor her memory and continue her legacy is her soul mate and husband of 51 years, Thomas, J. Swetz; her daughter Donna M. Clark and her fiancé Andrew Reynolds, and grandchildren Samantha Aline, Kenneth Joseph and Patrick Michael Clark; her son Thomas Paul Swetz, his wife Jacqueline, and their children Thomas Joseph and Brandon Michael Swetz, and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Wednesday & Thursday April 10th. & 11th from 2 – 4 pm & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Bartholomews Church on Friday April 12th. At 10am with Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
