Catherine M. Moore

Catherine M. Moore (nee Grady), a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Saturday March 12, 2011 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital after a courageous fight with emphysema. She was 78 years old. She was born on March 7, 1933 to Martin and Lena Murphy Grady in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, graduating from Commerce High School. Mrs. Moore was an executive secretary for Liberty Lines in Yonkers for many years until her retirement. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church and was a member of their senior citizens group. In her younger years, she coached basketball for St. Joseph’s School. She enjoyed bowling and was a longtime N.Y. Knick basketball fan. According to her family, “She will always be remembered for her Sunday family dinners”. On May 8, 1954, she married Kenneth F. Moore in St. Joseph’s Church. Mr. Moore survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Moore of Yonkers and a daughter, Eileen Maschak of Garnerville, N.Y. and two grandchildren, Kimberly and Joseph K. Maschak. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Grady. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church on Tuesday March 15th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
