Daniel D. Sabol, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Thursday May 15, 2014 at the Andrus Home in Hastings on Hudson after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 87 years old. He was born on February 10, 1927 to George and Dora Sabol in Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Commerce High School in 1943. Mr. Sabol served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II from 1944 to 1946 as a seaman 1st class. In August 1947, he married his loving wife Agnes Ormond in Yonkers. Mrs. Sabol died in 1990. Mr. Sabol was a firefighter for the City of Yonkers from 1955 until his retirement in 1991. He was a member and delegate for Local #628 – IAFF. He also won numerous awards through the fire department. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Sabol is survived by four sons, Daniel T. Sabol and his wife, Patricia of Yonkers, Robert W. Sabol and his wife, Barbara of Cortlandt Manor, Richard P. Sabol and his wife, Janice of Somers, N.Y. and Raymond M. Sabol and his wife, Susan of Dingmans Ferry, PA., and one daughter, Nancy (Sabol) Cummings and her late husband Daniel. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, his great grandchildren and the most wonderful friend a man could have, Joe “Mac” Macariello. He was predeceased by four brothers, George, Joseph, Edward and Raymond Sabol and four sisters, Vera, Johanna, Sr. Margaret (Helen) and Mary Sabol. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 3-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday May 20th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
