This week, our family lost a very special Son, Brother, Friend, Cousin, Nephew and Godfather. Our hearts are very heavy and filled with sadness. All who knew him knew the fun, loving, faithful and hysterical person that he was. He never failed to let an opportunity of laughter pass by him. He was truly kind and funny as HECK. His smile and laughter always stayed in everyone’s hearts. Darrell had many hobbies. He was an excellent Chef, could cook his backside off working for Professional Hospital amongst others. Darrell was a faithful employee of Markell Shoe Company, a job which he loved and refused to miss a day of work. Our brother Darrell was a very talented singer in his younger years and captured the 2nd PLACE PRIZE at a contest at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. Man, That Boy Was Bad! (Smile). He continued to sing and sang on many occasions at the Tarrytown Nursing Facility while visiting with our mother and had those youngsters trying to get up out of their wheelchairs to dance with him. It was so wonderful to see and experience.
He was an avid Bowler, from Lincoln Park Bowl to Homefield Bowl. That was one of the many loves of his life. He loved playing Dominos and playing Cards with his Family and Friends. There is so much more that can be said but we know that all who knew him have a story of their own that they could tell and I’m sure it made you smile. We know exactly how much Darrell has touched everyone’s lives.
He leaves behind his mother Vertelle Smith, brothers Marquis, Martin, Ross and his sisters Donna and Annette and other family members. We will surely miss him. WE ALREADY DO.
We would like to thank everyone for your support, your kind words, your friendship, your donations and just for truly loving our brother Darrell. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL.
