Dorothea L. Stymiloski

Dorothea Louise (Lake) Stymiloski died on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital with family at her bedside.

She was born on June 2, 1926 in New London, Ct., the daughter of the late Maurice and Edith (Mathews) Lake. Dorothea was a member of North Yonkers Community Church. She is survived by her two sons, Edward R. Stymiloski and his wife Noreen and Paul A. Stymiloski and his wife Jeannie, a daughter Lori Stymiloski, two sisters, Della Lesher and Jessie Damon and four grandchildren, Robert (Dawn), Michael (Liz), Marie (Michael), Dawn (Jose) and nine great-grandchildren Ariana, Jayden, Bella, Michael Joseph, Jaelynn, Juliette, Josephine, Mia and Samantha. Dorothea predeceased her loving and devoted husband of many years, Edward B. Stymiloski, four brothers, Reginald, Maurice, Aubry and George and one sister Muriel. Dorothea predeceased a son, Officer Gary Stymiloski, who was killed in the line of Duty thirty-five years ago, she was a proud sponsor of the Memorial Scholarship Fund and Golf Outings set up and organized by Westchester PBA and the great men and women of Westchester County Police Dept. Dorothea became a fierce advocate for the plight of police officers and victims. She loved and was skilled at writing community minded articles to the local newspapers. She and a group of close friends, victim survivors started a group Citizens of Capital Punishment and Support Group for Crime Victims. In addition, she was a devoted mom and housewife who loved being around her family having holiday gatherings, cooking etc. Family and friends may gather on Friday, July 5th at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Saturday 9:30 am at the funeral home.
