Dorothy R. Fitzgerald a lifetime resident of Yonkers died at the home of her son in Ulster County on Monday July 20, 2015 at age 93. She was born on August 28, 1921 to Daniel and Minnie (Travora) Hurley in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Dorothy worked as a librarian at St. John’s Hospital Nursing School and later as an Elevator Inspector for Otis Elevator. She married Daniel Fitzgerald on June 25, 1945 in St. Joseph’s Church in Yonkers, he died in 1980. Dorothy was a parishioner of Christ the King Church. She is survived by her son Daniel J. Fitzgerald, 2 sisters Madeline Langan and Helen Burke; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Mary Vanscoy and Louise Holland. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Christ the King Church on Friday July 14th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
