Dorothy J. Girasek

Dorothy J. Girasek (nee McGrath) of Hawthorne, NY formerly of Yonkers died on Wednesday February 22, 2012 at age 92. She was born on January 2, 1920 to John and Mary (Connolly) McGrath in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Commerce H.S. on March 22, 1940 she married Frank J. Girasek in NYC, he died in 1987. Dorothy was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church and when in Yonkers Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed her oil painting and contributed homemade baked goods to Rosary Hill every week. She is survived by her 6 children; Frank of Yonkers; Kenneth of Crozet, VA; Dorothy Bruley of Bedford Hills; Marylou Jenkinson of Oceanside, Calif; Deborah Girasek of Bethesda, MD and Bernadette Girasek of Boxford, Mass. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her brother John McGrath and 2 sisters Winnifred Burstell and Carol Ward. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY on Monday February 27th at 10AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Donations may be made to Rosary Hill Home 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
