Edgar Guillen Cortes

He was born in Manila, Philippines on April 22, 1948, son of the late Judge Celestino Cortes Sr. and Dr. Caridad Guillen Cortes. He is survived by his spouse Bessie Cortes, and his children (by Lorna Cortes, deceased) Allan (wife Emily and child Heide), Belinda (and children Charlote and Carlotta), Carlo Miguel (and wife Rena and children Ralph James and Cagalli), stepdaughter Marisol (and husband Matthew and children Liam, Logan and Luke). He is also survived by his siblings (Alice, Cesar, Julius, Jennifer), their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also in the heavenly company of his deceased siblings (Delia and Celestino, Jr.).

Edgar graduated from the University of the East in Sta. Mesa, Metro Manila with a degree in Dentistry. He also served in the Philippine Air force, then worked as a company dentist at PASAR Corporation until he retired and migrated to California, USA in 2006.

He is an avid Frank Sinatra fanatic and is a karaoke genius in his own right and is able to belch a song or two. Edgar loved to cruise and travel with his wife Bessie. He enjoyed exploring the Bahamas, Mexico, Alaskan Glaciers, Spain, Italy, France, Hong Kong and Canada amongst other places in the United States and the Philippines where he spent time with his family and friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 5 PM on Saturday, February 13th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 740 N Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701.
