Edmund J. Lonergan passed away on June 12, 2023 surrounded in love by his beloved wife Carol of 66 years, his five children, Diane McDonald (Michael), Eddie, Nancy Losee (Peter), Kevin, and Carolyn Fazzinga, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Born in Yonkers on May 14, 1936 to Edmund S. Lonergan and Catherine (Fallon) and was predeceased by his sisters Kaye Lynam, June Cleary and Claire Gebhardt. At a young age he developed a passion and love for baseball. He pitched for Gorton HS throwing multiple no hitters. Soon after graduation, he played for the New York Yankees farm team. After traveling and playing with the team in small towns across the south and midwest, he soon realized life on the road away from his family was not for him. He began his more than 60 year career with IBEW Local #3 (FKA Local #501) rising in the ranks from apprentice to union delegate. As a delegate he was committed to negotiating fair and decent retirement benefits for the union members. He will be remembered most, for his devotion, love and commitment to family. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church, Nepera Park on Thursday June 29th at 10am. Interment of ashes will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.
