Eileen M. Hayden

Eileen Hayden (nee Griffin) of Yonkers died on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at age 90. Born on January 15, 1923 to James and Nora (Foley) Griffin in Yonkers where she was raised and attended local schools. Eileen worked at both Carvel’s and Yonkers Raceway. On December 18, 1941 she married Walter, a WWII Veteran in St. Dennis Church, he died at age 36. Mrs. Hayden is survived by two children Arthur (Kathleen) Hayden and Nora (Joseph) Kirwan. She was predeceased by her son Walter who died in 2005. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James, Andrew (Joan), Stephen Hayden and Donna Grosso and her great grandchildren; Robert, Michael Anthony, Joseph, Ashley, Christopher Grosso and Trevor, Clara and Devon Hayden and her great-great grandchild Luciana Grosso. Her sister Teresa Walsh and was predeceased by her siblings James, John, Cecila Mahoney, Marion Griffin and Alice Woods. She will be remembered for her love of animals. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home on Sunday From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Christ the King Church on Monday, December 16th at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
