Elio G. Massa

Joe Massa, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday September 21, 2017 at Calvary Hospital. He was 69 years old. He was born on June 17, 1948 to Stanislao and Angela Buontempo Massa in Monteferrante, Italy. He was raised and educated in Italy. Mr. Massa was a self employed owner of his own construction business,

JM Construction of Yonkers from 1989 to present. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and was an avid golfer. In his younger days, he was a professional soccer player in Italy and was very involved with teaching soccer to the youth in Yonkers. He also enjoyed cooking, dancing and hosting dinner parties at his home. On October 2, 2004, he married his loving wife, Joan DiLeone at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Massa survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa Cheatham and her husband Keith of Katonah, Gina Palladino Conte and her husband Richard of Briarcliff Manor and Toni Ann Palladino of Yonkers, two brothers, John Massa of New Jersey and Antonio Massa of Rockland County and his mother, Angela Massa of Yonkers. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Tyler, Nina, Jaden, Keith and Kyle. He was predeceased by a brother, Nicola Massa and a sister, Lucia Massa LoPiccolo. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday September 25th at 9:30am. Cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale. Donations in his memory may be made to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, N.Y. 10461.
