

Enrico Caruso of Yonkers died on Tuesday June 14, 2011 at age 87. He was born on December 8, 1923 in Yonkers, NY to Almerindo and Isabella Caruso. He attended Saunders High School. Enrico was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in WWII and decorated with the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Caruso was predeceased by his wife Helen Gallagher in 1975. He was head custodian of the Yonkers School System, retiring from Roosevelt HS in 1985. After his retirement Mr. Caruso volunteered his services at the Jewish Home for the Blind, St. John’s Riverside Hospital and the church of St. Bartholomew feeding the homeless. Mr. Caruso is survived by three brothers Joseph of Wappinger’s Falls, NY, Neil of Yonkers, NY, Almerindo of North Fort Myers, Fla., as well as many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball FH on Thursday from 4 to 8pm ONLY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Bartholomew’s Church on Friday June 17th at 10am. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
