Eugene D. Broughton

Eugene Dale Broughton Sr., 84, of Fishkill, NY passed away peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Thursday, June 18th, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. Eugene was born on April 24, 1931 in Yonkers, NY to Albert and Dorothy(Sweeney) Broughton. He was raised in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Gorton High School. He joined the United States Navy and served for 4 years. In 1953, Eugene married Helen Kuchman of Yonkers, NY with whom he shared the blessing of 5 beautiful children. Upon his return from the Navy, Eugene began his true life passion as a charter bus driver. He found a second family in Bernacchio Bros. and Royal Coach Bus Lines, for whom he had the privilege of driving. Some of his favorite memories as a driver were when he chartered the senior groups on various trips, the Italian Club on numerous occasions, and toured with many different Athletic Clubs from North Yonkers. He even had the pleasure of driving his granddaughters on a club soccer trip.After losing his first wife in 1997 to Alzheimer's disease, Eugene was lucky to find love for a second time. He rekindled a high-school romance and married Marie Stasiak on July 2, 1999. When Eugene retired from driving, he became an avid golf watcher and enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed his tomato plants, Neapolitan cake, visits from family and friends, and relaxing with his wife at home on their patio. He was also a parishioner at St. Mary's Mother of the Church in Fishkill, NY. Eugene touched so many lives over his 84 years and he will be deeply missed.Eugene was predeceased by his parents Albert and Dorothy Broughton, his brother Albert Broughton, and first wife Helen Broughton. Eugene is survived by a dedicated and caring wife Marie Stasiak Broughton of Fishkill, NY, brother James (Joan) Broughton of Fishkill, NY, son Eugene Broughton of Deltona, FL, daughter Stephanie (Dudley) Barnes of Hartsdale, NY, daughter Maureen (John) Witkiewicz of Wappingers Falls, NY, son John (Karen) Broughton of Yonkers, NY, and son Robert Broughton (Rose Soto) of Fishkill, NY. He was blessed to be a Grandfather to 10, Great-Grandfather to 13, and Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Eugene also shared his love with 2 Step-Daughters, 1 Step-Son, 6 Step Grandchildren, and 1 Step-Great-Grandchild, also. Also survived by his sister in law Joan Broughton of Virginia.

Calling hours will be on Sunday June 21, 2015 from 2pm to 8pm at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday June 22, 2015 at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church with interment to follow at St.Mary’s Cemetery.
