He was born on October 22, 1946 to Gordon A. and Marie Buda Brown in Yonkers. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak and attended St. Leo’s College in Norfolk, VA for four years. Mr. Brown was a postal worker for the U.S. Post Office in Mt. Vernon and White Plains for 25 years until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of the postal workers union. Mr. Brown served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1978. He was a Petty Officer First Class and served in Vietnam, San Diego, Maryland, Greece and Virginia. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and his hobbies included photography, collecting coins and art. In 1969, he married his wife, Eileen Wynne in Carmel. Mrs. Brown survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Tara Stearns and her husband Christopher of Garrison, Bonnie Wasylenko-Panaro and her husband Anthony of Yonkers, Mary Brown and Bruno of Yonkers, one son, Eugene Brown of Yonkers, and one sister, Hilda Scelza and her husband Patsy of Montrose. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Erin, Anthony, Alex, Danielle and Nate and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Gordon Brown and a granddaughter Emily Stearns. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 20th 4-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, February 21st at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
