Florence Danyko

Florence was a lifelong Yonkers resident who loved her hometown. She was the daughter of John and Rose Babyak of Yonkers NY, and a graduate of Commerce High School. After graduation she worked at Morgan Bank and Trust, New York NY. In 1961, she married Richard Joseph Danyko of Yonkers NY (deceased, 1987). Florence and Richard raised three children: Richard, Stephen and Catherine, all of whom survive her and loved her dearly. Dick and Flo -- as they were affectionately known -- had a very active social life. They had many friends, who simply are the very best people -- and most fun people -- you could have in your life. As her children became young adults, Florence returned to work as a secretary at Manhattan College and later Yonkers Raceway, where she made many more new friends. Florence was sharp witted, highly opinionated, and a devout Catholic. She loved to read, particularly murder and mayhem fiction. Florence is also survived by her brother John Babyak of Gaithersburg MD, her nieces Susan Babyak and Julie Collier, daughters-in-law Kathleen Danyko, Sonia Kulchycky, M.D., and son-in-law Philip Sage. Lastly yet most importantly, Florence was infinitely devoted to her grandchildren Alexandra, Fiona, Sophia, Richard, Rebecca, and James, who equally loved their Nana and the way she spoiled them.

A visitation for Florence will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. A mass of christian burial will occur Friday, November 5, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Christ The King RC Church, 740 N. Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701. An interment will occur Friday, November 5, 2021 from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 209 Truman Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10703.
