
George Sarich, a lifelong Yonkers resident passed away on November 15, at the age of 85. George graduated from Saunders High School in 1945 and immediately enlisted in the US Army where he was an airplane mechanic specializing on P-80 Jets. He was awarded the Good conduct Medal and later served in the US Navy reserves. George worked as a mechanical engineer at the Bayer Corporation for many years and remained in the Metropolitan area most of his professional life. George was an active member at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church serving as a curator and treasure as well as a member of the Father and Sons Club for many years. He loved to sing and was a member of the Golden Chordmen Barbershop Chorus. He was an avid skier and golfer, a member of the Dunwoodie Men’s Club and enjoyed vacationing at Eddy Farm. He especially loved the holidays and spending time with his family, it was a special time for him. George is survived by his loving sister Martha Koblosh and brother John Sarich. His nieces Kim (Deryl) Thornton, Karen (Michael) Flaherty, Debbie Sarich and nephews Craig and Scott Sarich as well as many grand and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Afia Sarich, sister Olga Bertoldi, and brother Walter. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday, November 18th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m Parastas Service @ 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held in St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church on Saturday, November 19th at 10:30 a.m. Interment Oakland Cemetery.
