Gerald C. Moen

September 19, 1955July 3, 2019

Jerry Moen, a lifelong Yonkers resident, passed away at his home on July 3, 2019.

He was born and raised in North Yonkers and lived there his entire life. He'd want you to remember him by reminiscing about the good times and perhaps playing some Rolling Stones music. Jerry would also want you to know that the Stones are the greatest band in rock and roll history. After losing his beloved mother, he taught himself to play guitar. He excelled at baseball and loved playing basketball in leagues around the area. He attended both Sacred Heart Grade School and High School including time as an altar boy and class president and actor in plays. He is predeceased by his father, James Moen and his mother, Charlotte Paulsen Moen. He tagged along with older kids a week after losing his mother in 1969 to the Woodstock Festival, and thus began the love of music which enhanced his life and soothed his soul. Before and during college, he began working at his beloved Uncle George Bernacchia's Liberty Lines, spending decades enjoying his love of buses and rising to the role of Vice President. He adored his colleagues and classmates and family, and especially enjoyed participating in his three children's school and sports activities with his late wife of 25 years, Francine Esposito Moen. He is survived by his twin daughters, Cassandra (Casey) and Charlotte (Carly) as well as his son, James Moen, his brother Jimmy and sister Janice and his wife, Linda Keppler-Moen and his loyal and best friend till the end, Sophie -the coolest dog in the world, His late dog, Ginger has no doubt welcomed him to Heaven with gusto. Jerry moved to MTA Bus Company from Liberty Lines in 2006 and continued to enjoy the management of the bus life until his retirement in 2017. He loved the NY Giants and Mets, Montauk, fishing at his Catskills lake house, playing guitar with bandmates, following the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, stepchildren and the lights of his life, his three children. In lieu of flowers, please play some Eric Clapton, Cream, Dave Mason, and of course the Rolling Stones. Think of Jerry and smile and know that his warm and caring style and kind nature and gentle soul is now at peace, and your connection with him made a difference in his life and was valued and cherished and brought laughter and joy to his life. Memorial visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday July 8th from 4-8pm. Whalen & Ball Funeral Home 168 Park Ave. Yonkers, N.Y. 10703 (914)965-5488

Casey, Charley & James,
I am so sorry for your lost. I have many fond memories of evenings I spent at your house just listening to music and talking with your dad. Your father was a true friend and I enjoyed all the time I spent with him and your mother. I miss them both.
They will always be there in our hearts,

So, so sorry Linda & family
Gerry was the funniest guy - especially in 7/8th grade in SH. He was naturally funny, always had us giggling. May he RIP - May God give you all strength at this time.
