Gloria was born on August 18, 1926 in Staten Island, New York and educated in New York and New Jersey. She came to Yonkers in 1947 when she married her “Always Love”, William (“Bill”) A. Malone, former Yonkers City Engineer. Bill predeceased her in 1989. Gloria’s parents, Marie and Howard Bohler; son, William J. Malone, and infant children, Brian G. Malone and Christine Maryan Malone, also predeceased her.
Gloria was a wonderful mother and is survived by four of her children: Gloria Linakis (James); Mark (Ann Carroll); Terence (Kelly); and Michael (Kimberly). She adored her fifteen grandchildren: William Scott Malone; Seth, Megan, Matthew, Mikayla, and Josh Linakis; Luke, Patrick, Caitlin, and Molly Malone; Samantha, Taylor, and James Malone; and Benjamin and Devin Malone. She also cherished her five beloved great grandchildren: Chelsea and Chloe Malone; Jack and Madeline Malone; and Grace Linakis.
Gloria was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Amackassin Club, Morsemere Garden Club, Yonkers Historical Society, Friends of Philipse Manor, and a former volunteer at St. John’s Hospital. She was a devoted Catholic who participated in the Father Solanus Casey group at Sacred Heart Monastery.
To all who knew her, Gloria was a caring, intelligent, eloquent, and elegant woman. She was articulate, soft-spoken, and an amazing listener. Gloria’s common sense and wisdom, honed through years of life experience, touched many lives, always making them better for having known her. She constantly supported those she loved and strongly advocated for those things in which she believed: God, family, and our country.
