
Harriet L. Mengert of Palm Coast, Florida (formerly of Yonkers, NY) passed away on April 16, 2017 at age 84. She was born on June 17, 1932 to Harry and Marie (Lucas) Bova in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Commerce High School and was valedictorian of her class. She married Robert Mengert on November 22, 1952 in St. Mary’s Church. He died in 2002, and was the love of her life. Harriet worked as the Chief Clerk of the Bankruptcy Court in White Plains. She was an avid reader and quilter (she made a quilt for every one of her children and grandchildren); she was a volunteer at the animal shelter, was a mahjong player and was in many groups; she enjoyed gardening; spending time at the beach and enjoyed a fine glass of wine and dark chocolate; she was a great fan of Wheel of Fortune (and could solve puzzles with only one or two letters on the board); and was a crossword puzzle fan. Harriet was a devoted wife and dedicated to her family; including her cats. Survivors include her daughters Debra Mengert, Pamela da Rosa, her son Robert L. Mengert, Jr, a brother Jack Bova, 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one on the way. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and her sister Anita Bertram. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Mary’s Church on Friday 10am. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery.
