

Helen Zabielski of Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30. She was 94 years old. Helen was born to Constantine and Anna Goidz on December 30, 1916. On October 3, 1937, she married Stanley Zabielski at St. Casimir’s Church in Yonkers. Helen was greatly devoted to her family. She was a loving and compassionate woman. She was active in her parish community, volunteering many years at the St. Casimir’s bazaar and flea market. Helen retired from the New York Central Railroad, having served as an assistant in the Claims Department for over 30 years. She is survived by her loving son, Stanley Jerome of Seymour, CT, and her beloved daughter, Lorraine Dearstyne and her husband Lou of Thornwood, NY. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Danny Zabielski, Laura Caprio, Donna DeAngelis and her husband Albert, Louis Dearstyne and his wife Martina, and Phillip Dearstyne and his wife Kathleen. She will also be missed by her treasured great-grandchildren, Rachael, Matthew, Trevor, Victoria, Meghan, Harrison, Kelsey and Jack as well as her dear nephews, Robert Nedwick and his wife Joanne and Phillip Nedwick and his wife Rose, along with many treasured nieces and nephews. Helen is pre-deceased by her devoted husband, Stanley and her beloved sisters, Maryann Takacs, Sister Laura Goidz C.R. and Stephanie Nedwick. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY (914/965-5488) on Tuesday, October 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Casimir’s Church, 239 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, NY on Wednesday, October 6 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers.
