Irene Mlynar

Irene Frances Mlynar (nee Fitzgerald) of Yonkers died on Monday November 24, 2014 at age 88. She was born on January 31, 1926 to William and Irene (Shultz) Fitzgerald in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Mrs. Mlynar worked in the business office for Sacred Heart High School and then as the Secretary for the business office at St. John’s Hospital for 15 years. Irene was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church; also a member of the Monastery Players; Sacred Heart Choir and a volunteer at various church functions. Mrs. Mlynar was predeceased by her two husbands, Edward Mlynar and Robert Philp. She is survived by her 4 children; Robert (Kathy) Philp, Michael Philp, Edward (Susan) Mlynar and Irene (Brian) Mahelski. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her sister Lois (William) Thompson, her brother-in-law Thomas Keane and her sister-in-law Joanne Sicari; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 3 brothers; William, John, Robert Fitzgerald and 2 sister Margaret (Peg) McLaughlin and Eleanor Keane. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday November 29th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Irene’s name.
