

James Coote of Trumbull, Ct., formerly of Yonkers, died on Tuesday October 2, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, Ct. He was 87 years old. He was born on November 13, 1924 to James A. and Rosanna Ward Coote in Yonkers where he was raised and educated graduating from Commerce High School. Mr. Coote was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Yonkers for forty one years until his retirement. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific and African Campaigns. He was a former member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 16. Mr. Coote was a parishioner of Christ the King Church and he enjoyed gardening and dancing with his wife. On May 18, 1947, he married his loving wife Virginia Ray in Holy Eucharist Church. Mrs. Coote died on April 15, 2010. Survivors include two sons, Robert (Jacqueline) Coote of New Fairfield, Ct. and William (Mary Anne) Coote of Yonkers and two daughters, Virginia (Jerry) Forestieri of Jamestown, NC and Ellen (Gregg) Spychalla of Trumbull, Ct. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Jennifer, Kerry, Megan, David, Richard, Brian, Christopher, Melissa, Matthew and Patrick and nine great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church on Friday October 5th at 11 am.
