
James (The Bear) DiBernardino of Yonkers died on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at age 74. Born on March 22, 1939 to Vincent and Loretta (Kowalski) DiBernardino in Yonkers where he was raised and attended local schools. He worked as a steamfitter for Local 21 for over fifty years. He married the former Margaret Sullivan, they have been married over fifty three years. James was a member of the Dunwoodie Senior Golf League and the 140 Club, a former coach with the Ramblers (softball). He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City as much as his trips with his grandchildren to amusement parks. He was an avid golfer (taught his son) ran golf outings; coupon cutter; many visits to the Jersey Shore; routed for the Yankees and was a season ticket holder for the New York Giants. Besides his wife Margaret, he is survived by his four children; Debra (Bob-deceased) Cava; Diana (Rob-deceased) Collins, James (Molly) DiBernardino and Margaret. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Krissy (Joe); Matthew, Robert, Jessica, Sydney, Cassidy and Angela. Also, two great-grandchildren; Gabriella and Madelyn. He also served his country; serving in the Navy from 1958 to 1963. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, November 9th at 9:30 a.m. Committal Service Ferncliff Chapel.
