Joan Ray

Joan Ray (nee Murphy) of Yonkers died on Monday December 17, 2012 at age 68. She was born on July 8, 1944 in Yonkers where she was raised and educated and attended Blessed Sacrament Academy. Mrs. Ray worked as a Case Social Worker at Hudson View Nursing Home (Palisade Garden) for over 40 years retiring in 2008. On May 13, 1961 she married Edward Ray in Sacred Heart Church, he died on December 15, 2006. Joan was an avid bowler, belonging to many leagues. She is survived by her three children Deborah (Fred) Semp, Colleen (Andrew) Perillo and David J. (Eileen) Ray all of Yonkers. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren Anthony, Christopher, John, Shannon, Danielle, Brian, Nicholas and Andrew and her special Dog Friend “Maggie”. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Church on Friday December 21st at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
