
Mr. Donjacour was born on July 20, 1927 to Johannes and Maria Donjacour in Rotterdam and grew up in Breda, The Netherlands.
After attending the Merchant Marine Academy of the Netherlands and sailing with Holland America Lines, Mr. Donjacour immigrated to the United States in 1955, and married Gloria Dran on April 28, 1956 in St. Peters Church. The couple settled in Yonkers, NY, building their own home on the upper banks of the Hudson River. He was the devoted father of three daughters.
Mr. Donjacour worked as a navel architect and engineer with the J.J. Henry Company and later with National Bulk Carriers in New York City. As a parishioner of Christ the King church he sang with its choir for many years. Mr. Donjacour enjoyed tennis, ping-pong, horseback riding and other sports and outdoor activities. He also was an accomplished woodwork and furniture designer and craftsman.
Mr. Donjacour is survived by his three daughters: Annemarie of San Francisco, Johanna of Lindenhurst, NY and Micheline of Los Angeles, his four grandchildren, Aaron, Eva, Marlena and Maria, and his two great grandchildren, Lacy and Sophia. He was predeceased by his wife Gloria and his two brothers, Jacques and Matthew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Christ the King Church on Saturday, February 18 at 10 AM. Donations on behalf of Mr. Donjacour may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org).
