John T. Cardwell

John T. Cardwell, 85, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday July 25, 2019 at Montefiore Hospital.
John Thomas Cardwell, the son of the late Thomas and Beatrice Cardwell, born in Coaldale, West Virginia on November 6, 1933. John was very well known who also went by the name of “Cardboard”. He attended school in the Coaldale, West Virginia school system. John worked for Globe Union in Hastings on the Hudson for many years and Almo furniture in Yonkers until he retired. John enjoyed walking and talking with his friends as this gave him comfort. John was married to Rose Turner on August 1, 1958. He is also survived by three daughters Jonetta, Karen and Sharon, two sons Steven and Jeffrey, and one daughter-n-law Maxine all of Yonkers; four sisters, Ellen Dickerson (Jack) of Mt. Vernon, New York, Audrey Hollinsworth, Freda Echols and Linda Chambers all of Yonkers, New York, and Peggy Stores (Charles) and Patricia Thompson (Leo) of West Virginia; two brothers, Jimmy and Vernell Cardwell both of Yonkers, NY nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. His son Myron Cardwell, brother Harold Cardwell and sister Mary Washington predeceased his death. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 10am to 12pm. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday July 31st at 12 pm.
