He was born on July 29, 1963 to Bennett and Irene Cromp McKinnon in Syracuse. He was raised in Yonkers and graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School and Gorton High School. Mr. McKinnon was a bus driver for Liberty Lines in Yonkers for nineteen years until he became ill. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 1985. He was an airman and was stationed in Rome, N.Y. Mr. McKinnon was a member of the Pipes & Drums of the Police Emerald Society of Westchester and he enjoyed traveling to Ireland. On August 16, 1997, he married his loving wife, Ann Marie Strand in Ireland. Mrs. McKinnon survives and lives in Blauvelt. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Thomas McKinnon and his wife DeeDee of Yonkers and a sister, Margaret Staruch and her husband Peter (Ret. YPD) of Yonkers, a stepmother, Corinne Orlando, a step sister, Kathleen Murphy and an aunt, Patricia Solitto. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his step father, Charles Orlando. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church, Yonkers, on Saturday July 31st at 9:30am. Final disposition is private. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
