

John Ray of Fishkill, NY (formerly of Yonkers) died at his home with his family by his side on Saturday August 29, 2015 at age 71. He moved to Fishkill in 2004 to be closer to his children, (but he never forgot his Lake Avenue roots). He was born on February 28, 1944 to David and Catherine (Wilson) Ray in Newark, NJ. John graduated from Gorton High School. Mr. Ray worked as an installer for NY Verizon for over 22 years; retiring in 1991. He also worked for the City of Yonkers Code Enforcement Department and was presently employed by Home Depot. On September 24, 1966 he married Sharon Faye in Sacred Heart Church; she survives living in Fishkill. John was an avid Yankee and Giant fan, but most of all he will be remembered for his dancing. Besides his wife Sharon he is survived by his 3 children Lori Ann (John) Wall, John and Donna (David) Miller and his grandchildren Amanda, John, Katie-Ray, John Patrick and Derek, his brother David (Alice) Ray of Virginia Beach and his nephew Brian (Debbie) Zengen who John considered a son with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Edward and his wife Joan Ray and a granddaughter Kaylee Irene. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
