

Joseph T. Drohan, a longtime Yonkers resident died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in the Bronx. He was 88 years old. Born on March 3, 1929, to John and Frances (Treacy) Drohan, Joe was raised and educated in Yonkers, and attended public schools there, including Gorton High School. He married Loyola (Ryan) Drohan (Pat) on Thanksgiving Day, 1953; he and Pat had four children- Mariann, James, Joseph and Matthew. He is survived by Pat and his four children, as well as his sister, Carol Curran, of Williamsburgh, Virginia; his brother David, of Barrington, Illinois; and his loving (and frequently amused) grandchildren, Peter, Angela, Luke and Sarah. He was predeceased by his brothers John, Donald, Gerard, and Edward, and by his grandson Patrick. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and worked for many years as a salesman. He loved his family; enjoyed making people laugh; liked reading, playing golf, and occasionally being the center of attention. The wake will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers, on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral Mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers, on Friday, December 1st, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers.
