Joe was born in Yonkers on December 16, 1956, the son of the late Joe Gallagher and Pauline Gallagher. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Yonkers in 1974 and St. Joseph’s College in Maine in 1978. Joe worked as a dedicated employee for IBM for 40 years ending his career as a Project Executive. Over the years he accumulated more friends than can be counted. People were drawn to his genuine nature, sense of humor, and true loyalty. The love he had for his family was unconditional. This love overflowed into every aspect of Joe’s life. Joe carried passion into everything he did. He was an avid Yankee and Jet sports fan, and of course his son’s college golf team, the Nichols College Bison’s and he loved playing golf. His enthusiasm was contagious and made everyone around him feel good. His love of sports and his special love for kids led Joe to coaching basketball through the Beekman Town League. As a team coach, Joe inspired and motivated dozens of young boys to be the best they can be, and to become proud and responsible young men. Joe had an amazing sense of humor. He loved to share funny stories of his own encounters in life, especially to his children who loved hearing them. He will be remembered fondly and missed by many. Above all else, Joe loved his wife, Bethann of Monmouth Beach and children, Joey of Dutchess County, N.Y. & Katie, of N.Y., N.Y. who survive him. He is also survived by his sisters Annette Buchanan and her husband Brian, Laurie Mortensen and her husband Jim, MaryEllen Ebrech and her husband Tom, and his brother Paul Gallagher and his wife Lisa. In addition, he leaves behind six nephews Erik and Dylan Mortensen, Sean and Brendan Buchanan, Paulie and Morgan Gallagher, one niece, Amelia Gallagher and a grandniece, Shae. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Yonkers on Tuesday August 14th at 9:30am. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. Donations in his memory may be made to the Memorial
