

Joseph N. Morello, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday June 16, 2016 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 84 years old. He was born on July 28, 1931 to Joseph and Angelina Morello in the Bronx where he was raised and educated. Mr. Morello worked for the New York City Dept. of Sanitation for several years until his retirement. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was a Private First Class and was stationed in Alaska. He enjoyed watching baseball and he was a longtime Yankee fan. He also enjoyed working with his hands - doing carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. On September 5, 1953, he married his loving wife, Stella Vingo in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Morello survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Medina and her husband Gilbert of Yonkers, a son, Stephen Morello of Yonkers and a sister, Joann Karnish of California. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Joseph, Jason, Linda, Debbie and Melissa and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Morello Jr. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday morning
9 - 10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday June 20th at 11am. Entombment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery.
