

Born on April 15, 1941, Joe was the son of the late Frank and Lillian (D’Ambrosio) Tardella. He began his career with Gannett Newspapers in 1957 and remained a dedicated and valued employee until his retirement in 2003. Joe was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet pride in a job well done.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lillian (D’Ambrosio) Tardella; his siblings Louise and her husband Harry Shaefer, Alberta and her husband George Whiting, Adrienne and her husband Edward “Koky” Kovacs, Frank Tardella, and Michael Tardella; and his nieces Sherrie Coletta and Sandy LaBarbera.
Joe is survived by his brother Willie (Linda) Tardella, as well as many loving nieces and nephews: Debbie Guerrero; George and Kevin Whiting; Lori (Al) Blandeburgo; Eddie (Tracy) Kovacs; Frank, Kenny, Scott, Hollie, and Cindy Tardella; Billy and Danny Tardella; Louise (Frank) Nyemchek; Jackie (Darwin) Libertto; Dominique, Bianca, Savannah, and Alexis Nyemchek; and Elianna Libertto. He also leaves behind several cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joe lived with his niece and nephew, Frank and Louise Nyemchek, who cared for him and shared their home and family with him. He will be remembered for his quiet presence, his love for his family, and the many memories shared with those closest to him.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visiting Hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703 on Thursday March 19, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703 on Friday March 20, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
Interment will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery, 209 Truman Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703.
