Julia D. Cangelosi

Julia Cangelosi (Ghimenti) mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Saturday April 25th at home with her three sons by her side. Julia was born in Bogota, Colombia June 5, 1946 and moved to the U.S. in 1964. She was a lifelong Yonkers, NY resident. She married Frank Cangelosi in 1973 and raised their three sons after Frank passed away in 1987. She devoted her life to her family and her faith in God. Julia was loved by so many people because she always lived life by following her heart. She touched anyone she met with her bright smile, loving spirit and compassion. She lived life with passion for her family, most especially her three sons, brothers and grandchildren.

Julia had a lifelong dream to ballroom dance and in the last few years of her life she finally accomplished her dream to dance. She impressed so many with the same elegance and grace she admired in other dancers for years. It brought her so much joy and we know she is dancing in Heaven. She is survived by her sons John LaCourte of Yonkers, NY, Frank Cangelosi (Julie) of Armonk, NY, Michael Cangelosi (Brandy) of West Harrison, NY, her grandchildren Frank, Jordan, Nicholas, Isabella, Penelope and Alesandra Cangelosi and her brothers Augusto Ghimenti (Noris), Enrique Ghimenti (Carmen) and Guido Ghimenti (Angela). Julia is predeceased by her parents Augusto and Dolores Ghimenti. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday from 5-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday May 2nd. At 10 am at Christ the King Church with Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
