
Katherine "Kay" was born in Manhattan on October 24, 1918 to Katherine and Herman Bohling. She was educated in the New York City Schools. She was employed as Executive Secretary with Columbia Broadcasting Systems (CBS). In 1942, she married Dr. G. Charles Morrone in St. Peter's Church, Yonkers and they settled in Yonkers to raise their children, Kathleen and James. Kay was predeceased by Dr. Morrone in 1982. In 1986, she married W. Alden Hetherly. He predeceased her in 1999.
Kay was always on the move. She was an avid golfer and member of Hudson River and Knollwood Country Clubs. She was very proud of her experiences as a time keeper for track meets at West Point. She was sweet, strong, generous and always of good nature. Kay was truly admired for her gifted piano talent and well known for her great wit and smile. Kay is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (George) Hanold of Costa Mesa, California, her grandchildren, Regan (Nick) Beegle, George (Nicole) Hanold and her great-granddaughter, Sawyer Katherine Beegle. She is survived by her step-daughter, Sharon Murphy of Seminole, Florida and her step-granddaughter Alison Murphy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her son, James Charles, and her sisters, Eleanor Durr and Margaret Leuthner. Wake services will be held at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home on Thursday, March 5 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral service from the funeral home on Friday, March 6th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of you choice in Kay's memory will be greatly appreciated.
