Kathleen T. Brown

Kathleen T. Brown (nee Kiernan) died on Tuesday November 11, 2014 at age 91. She was born on December 4, 1922 to Joseph and Kitty Kane Kiernan in Yonkers where she was raised and attended local schools. Kathleen worked for the Alexander Smith Carpet Shop in Yonkers and later was a Customer Service Manager for the Gestetner Corp. for many years. She married John M. Cheetham on December 16, 1945 in St. Bartholomew’s Church in Yonkers. He died in 1972. On November 30, 1980 she married Colin “Buster” Brown in Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. He died in 1998. Kathleen was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Yonkers. She is survived by her 2 daughters Cheryl Cheetham of Croton-on-Hudson and Kathleen Murphy and her husband Richard of Clinton Corners, 1 sister Peggy Welsh of Yonkers, 3 grandchildren Christina Altomare, Joseph Caragine and Coleen Kern; also by 7 great grandchildren Alyssa Caragine, Nicola, Giovanni and Cristopher Altomare, Kaitlyn, Alexis and Hazel Kern. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers Joseph and James Kiernan and a sister Rita Kiernan. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday November 15th at 10am in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Kathleen’s name may be made to: Save The Children 501 Kings Hwy E.
