Kelly Ann O'Brien

Kelly was born in Yonkers, NY where she formed so many life-long friendships from childhood. She attended Christ the King Grade School and Saunders High School, where she proved to be an amazing athlete. She excelled in volleyball, basketball and softball and often played on travel teams for the PAL. She was introduced to the Police Athletic League by her loving father (Billy) who passed in 2012 and the friendships made on those teams lasted to today. She obtained her Associates Degree from WCC and looked forward to a career in criminal justice. Over the years, her adventurous nature took her to a few different locations across the country (Colorado, Las Vegas, NJ) but she ended up back in NY with her family, where she would also start her own. She is survived by her mother Carol, her sisters Kim (Anthony Poggiogalle) and Kerry (Robert Hess), her loving Aunt Janet (Niosi), Uncle Ronan and Aunt Marge (O’Brien), many cousins, and what she considered to be her greatest accomplishment, her daughter Angelina. Kelly was a devoted mother and aunt who did anything and everything for her daughter, nieces and nephews (Bailee, Evan, Alex, Billie & Cassie). Her laughter and personality would fill a room no matter where she went. She was admired by so many because she was fearless but those close to her knew just how sensitive she really was.

She recently relocated to Myrtle Beach where she finally got to live her dream of being chef of her own kitchen. The VFW Post 10420 in Murrell’s Inlet became a second home and she was happy. She was finally living by the beach and had loving friends all around her (both old and new). Her infectious smile and huge personality will be sorely missed.

Visiting hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, located at 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, New York, 10703, on Monday July 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, located at 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, New York, 10703, on Tuesday July 8, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
